FASHION MONTH AT THE MUSEUM - FASHION ON YOUR HEAD
OPENING OF TEMPORARY EXHIBITIONS

- An insight into the rich cultural and handicraft heritage of the headgear and the contemporary approaches of young artists;
- Conversations with curators, master milliners and the authors of the exhibited works, opening up their perspectives, creative processes and the stories behind the objects;
- An event bringing together heritage, modernity and knowledge with the multi-faceted stories of millinery and fashion.
Opening of temporary exhibitions:
IN THE WORLD OF HEADGEAR
- presentation of headgear from the collection of dress culture as one of the oldest forms of social marking and as multifaceted objects that combine the functional, symbolic and aesthetic dimensions of dress culture.
- The exhibition is organised in six thematic sections, which show the diverse roles of headgear over time. Headgear is presented as a carrier of meanings that transcend its materiality and tell a broader story about people, culture and art.
STORIES ABOUT HATS:
- The selection of exceptional headgear from Slovenian museums reveals the unique stories of individual objects and at the same time highlights the importance of museums working together to jointly research, protect and present cultural heritage.
- Participants: Ptuj Ormož Regional Museum, Maribor National Liberation Museum, Celje Regional Museum, Celje Museum of Contemporary History, Škofja Loka Loka Loka Museum, Military Museum of the Slovenian Armed Forces, Ljubljana City Museum, Pomurje Museum Murska Sobota.
SENCA ELEGANCE
- contemporary creativity, where the protective function of the headgear is intertwined with aesthetic and artistic expression.
- The works of four Slovenian women artists are presented - Ana Lazovska, Špela Strašek (Boho Headwear), Polona Poklukar and Ana Cajhen - whose work marks the contemporary millinery and fashion landscape. Their creations combine tradition, superior craftsmanship and innovative approaches, shaping each headdress into a unique artistic and fashion expression.
FASHION AT THE TOP
- The headwear is set in a space of contemporary fashion and youthful creativity.
- Through original approaches, pupils, students and young designers explore form, material and meaning, using experimentation and contemporary expression to connect the heritage of millinery with the dialogue between tradition and the future of fashion.
- Participants: Kaja Frešer, Julia Kaja Hrovat - JKH Identity, students of the Faculty of Design (independent higher education institution) and the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Engineering, University of Ljubljana.
