LACE IN THE OPEN STORAGE

The installation by Tanja Devetak and Eduard Čehovin explores the notion of lace in its formal reinterpretations in relation to its manifestation in the material and abstract notion of space. Human lace figures as open forms, in realistic proportions and volume, are placed around the space of the open storage in Kino Partizan. They are placed in different poses next to selected furniture objects (chair, table, wardrobe), creating intimate mise-en-scènes that offer each visitor a glimpse into the limits of their experience and develop interaction with the audience.

The context of the relationship between the lace human figure and the chosen furniture object raises questions about the influence of people on the space they live in. The human figures are translucent, with different internal structures and textures. When illuminated, they create a play of shadows in the space, forming a complex spatial layout. The lace figures create autonomous visual wholes that enhance the open storage installation with their realistic context, interactivity and development. The initial stories of the individual art installations do not remain in an imaginary world, but are reflected in the viewer's personal experience.
