INVITATION TO PARTICIPATE IN THE SMALL SYMPOSIUM 2026
UNTIL 18 SEPTEMBER 2026

Dear teachers,

We are delighted to invite you once again this year to take part in the educational programme SMALL SYMPOSIUM 2026,

which is Maribor Regional Museum organises as part of its long-standing museum and educational activities. This year’s theme ties in with the museum exhibition First touch, which represents the oldest evidence of human presence in the Maribor area and the rich archaeological heritage of this region.

The title of this year’s symposium is:

THE FIRST SETTLEMENTS IN THE MARIBOR AREA

Through exploration, pupils will learn about people’s lives from prehistoric times to the arrival of the Slavs, their ways of life, work, beliefs, everyday objects and archaeological finds that bear witness to life in our region in the distant past.

They are invited to choose a topic related to the selected period and present it in the form of a research paper.

Application deadline: 18 September 2026

Please send your applications to the following email address: pedagogika-muzej@museum-mb.si

You can read a report on last year’s Small Symposium, complete with photographs, on page 71 Appendices to the 2025 Annual Report.

The programme is accompanied by a biennial anthology Small publications.
