Guest Temporary Exhibition Objects of Joy at the Maribor Regional Museum
Since December 2025, the exhibition space of Kino Partizan has been hosting the guest temporary exhibition Objects of Joy by the Pomurje Museum Murska Sobota.
The exhibition Objects of Joy explores how joy intertwines with everyday objects. On display are items from the archaeological, historical, art-historical, and ethnological collections of the Pomurje Museum Murska Sobota, ranging from a bride’s shadowbox, porcelain figurines, and a medieval pot to historical banknotes.
The installation at Kino Partizan is complemented by selected objects from the collections of the Maribor Regional Museum. Although the objects may appear to have little in common at first glance, they are connected by the relationship people had with them—and often, that relationship was joy.
The exhibition Objects of Joy was curated by Mateja Huber, curator-educator at the Pomurje Museum Murska Sobota, who also involved the local community in the creative process. As part of the educational programme Little Curator seventh-grade pupils from Primary School I Murska Sobota prepared descriptions of selected museum objects, offering fresh, childlike perspectives on heritage and material collections. A special section of the exhibition presents contemporary personal objects owned by visitors and linked to their own experiences of joy. The significance of including these objects was also recognised by the Valvasor Awards Committee, which honoured the exhibition Objects of Joy this year with a Valvasor Award.
Guest exhibition Objects of Joy will be on view at Kino Partizan until 15 September 2026.
