Among archaeologists, there's a humorous saying: when you're not sure what something is, it's probably cult-related. The fact is, humans have always believed in \u201csomething\u201d that helped them make sense of the phenomenon of life. Archaeological evidence for this includes findings associated with beliefs, superstitions, protection, and offerings to gods. The exhibition To All Gods and Goddesses presents a chronological overview of discoveries from the broader Maribor area that can be attributed with more than just practical value. <\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

Hearth supports or firedogs are richly decorated, predominantly ceramic objects from the Early Iron Age, used as tools in hearths. They typically have an elongated shape with raised, opposing ends, which can sometimes be crafted in the form of animal heads. Due to the crescent-like shape of some, resembling a waxing or waning moon, they are also referred to in archaeological literature as lunar idols.<\/p>

The exact purpose of these objects is still not fully explained. Some believe they were used as cooking tools, while others, considering their presence near the hearth \u2013 the center of the home \u2013 their shape, and decoration, attribute a specific symbolic meaning or ritual role to them.<\/p>
