Holy Infant (Jesulus Pragensis) is a wax figure, 45 cm tall. He holds the globe in his left hand and blesses with his right. He is dressed in luxurious clothing and wears a crown on his head. The Holy Infant of Prague from the Ursuline Monastery is still the most similar to the original gracious Holy Infant of Prague (Milostn\u00e9 pra\u017esk\u00e9 Jezul\u00e1tko).\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n

The entire figurine is made of similarly yellow wax and the resemblance is evident also from the shape of the body, head and the face. A shallow impression on the front of the left foot and remains of a red wax seal show that the authenticity of this figurine was confirmed with a stamp.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n

In the Chronicle of the Ursuline Monastery in \u0160kofja Loka, it is written: \"The church keeps a beautiful statue of Jesus of Prague from the time of the Poor Clares. It is said that it was during a time of great hardship that the prioress hid the small statue in a food chest in the vault and asked it for help. Her prayer was immediately fulfilled, because a gentleman in Ljubljana heard about their misery and sent them a whole wagonload of food. When people found out about this, they began to worship the Holy Infant of Prague fervently and brought him various gifts, such as: candles, eggs, butter... The various dresses of Jesus, which the Poor Clares made for him, are still preserved, and the statue of Holy Infant of Prague is still dressed according to the church year: in white, red, green, violet, blue clothes.\"<\/i>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n

An image by the Augsburg copperplate engraver Franz Karl Heissig from the second half of the 18th century with an inscription that informs us that the Holy Infant, consecrated\u00a0 <\/span>and made after the original in Prague, is worshiped in the church of the Poor Clares in \u0160kofja Loka, most likely since 1769. The image is kept by the National Museum of Slovenia, inv. no. G-4200.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

The knowledge of making such wax figures and the spread of piety was passed from monastery to monastery. This was also the case in Slovenia, as the Poor Clares, the Carmelites and later the Ursulines cultivated a special devotion to the Holy Infant. The latter had great trust in the Holy Infant of Prague - in their prayers they asked him for the health of their children in boarding schools and priestly vocations. Mary's sisters (Society of Mary's Sisters of the Miraculous Medal) also prayed to the Jesus of Prague. After having lunch, the sisters would exclaim: \"Merciful Jesus of Prague, have mercy on us!\" In many places, this exclamation was used in the 60s of the 20th century, but it is still quite common today.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>
