The virtual exhibition We're going on our own <\/strong>presents seven independent cultural institutions in Maribor with common roots. They are the backbone of Maribor's institutional cultural activity. In addition to the Maribor Regional Museum, the exhibition also presents the Maribor University Library, the Maribor Regional Archive, the town's main Art Gallery, the Museum of National Liberation, the Maribor Synagogue and the Institute for the Protection of Cultural Heritage the Maribor Regional Unit.<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tThe beginnings of the Museum of National Liberation in Maribor date back to 1947, when a collection on the national liberation struggle was opened in the Maribor Regional Museum. This was the first collection of its kind in Slovenian complex museums. In 1955, with the help of the Union of NOV Fighters, the Department of the People's Revolution moved to its own building at 5 Heroja Tom\u0161i\u010d Street, and in 1958 it became an independent institution. In the converted building, the Department set up a permanent exhibition, which opened on 12 January 1958. \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n

\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tThe largest part of the material transferred from the Maribor Regional Museum to the new museum is the Sanit\u00e9 collection. This includes two operating tables, one of which originated from the partisan hospital Jesen and was in use from the autumn of 1944 until the end of the war. Dr Herman Slokan - Zmago operated on it. The major part of the Sanit\u00e9's collection consists of original objects of Dr Herman Slokan - Zmago, used during the Second World War in the partisan hospital Ko\u0161uta pod Pohorje, which he himself donated to the Museum in 1955. The objects include surgical tools (surgical forceps, razors, scissors, surgical needles, staples, anaesthetic mask, garters, a medical bag).\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>
