He was born on 9 November 1920 in Ljubljana. He finished primary and secondary school in Maribor. He continued his education at the Military Academy in Belgrade, but it was interrupted because of the war. From 1949 to 1954 he studied Art History at the Faculty of Arts of the University of Ljubljana.<\/p>

He started working at the Maribor Regional Museum and remained there until his retirement. As director of the museum, he introduced new inventory books, laid the foundations for the costume collection with the exhibitions Three Hundred Years of Fashion in Slovenia (1965) and Uniforms in History (1969), and for the photography collection with the exhibition Maribor and its People in Old Photographs (1976).<\/p>

He systematically researched Baroque sculpture and devoted several monographs to this topic. He actively participated in the foundation of the Maribor Art Gallery (1954) and was one of the initiators of the establishment of the Rotov\u017e Exhibition Salon (1966). It was thanks to him that the statues of St. Zachary, St. Daniel and four sculptures by Jozef Holzinger represented art from Slovenia in the 1971 exhibition Yugoslav Art through the Centuries at the Grand Palais in Paris.<\/p>

He succeeded Franjo Ba\u0161 at the Department of Art History of the Faculty of Arts of the University of Ljubljana, where he taught museology and conservation. He also gave lectures on the history of clothing at the School of Textile Design in Ljubljana.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n
