Maribor Regional Museum<\/strong> holds the largest and unique collection of clothing culture in Slovenia, which is of national importance. It comprises more than 10,000 objects (fashion clothing and accessories, uniforms, liturgical textiles, textiles for other purposes, theatre and film costumes and artistic fashion creations) from the 17th to the 21st centuries. The programme is called FASHION MONTH AT THE MUSEUM<\/strong>and our curator, Maja Hren Brvar is organizing it since 2013, every year in the month of May. It is a comprehensive programme with a central temporary exhibition of museum material and a varied accompanying programme.<\/p>\n

OPENING OF THE TEMPORARY EXHIBITION FASHION ILLUSTRATION - A VISUAL LUXURY<\/strong><\/p>\n

On Saturday, 18 May, International Museum Day, at 11:00 a.m., we are opening a temporary exhibition entitled FASHION ILLUSTRATION - A VISUAL LUXURY, at the Kino Partizan exhibition space. The exhibition will feature original 19th-century fashion illustrations, as well as original garments and accessories from the collection of Dress Culture. Contemporary digital illustration will also be shown through a historical walk of fashion illustration. The exhibition will also feature fashion design students with their selected fashion illustrations. It will also offer visitors the opportunity to actively participate by sketching\/illustrating in different techniques. A live drawing event will be held at the opening on 18 May and the exhibition will be on display until 31 August 2024.<\/p>\n

FASHION TALK: ILLUSTRATION AS A VISUAL LANGUAGE<\/strong><\/p>\n

On Tuesday, 21.5.2024 at 11:00 a.m. we will hold a FASHION CONVERSATION on the topic ILLUSTRATION AS A VISUAL LANGUAGE in the Knights' Hall of Maribor Castle.<\/p>\n

The fashion roundtable discussion will include the theme of illustration as a visual language. Invited guests (Dr Sabina Puc, Faculty of Design \/ Matic Brezov\u0161ek, graphic designer \/ Assoc. Prof. Dr Marija Nabernik, Academy of Fine Arts, University of Ljubljana \/ Meta Wraber, freelance illustrator) will talk about fashion illustration, graphic design, illustrating clothing culture (documenting costumes) and the profession of illustrator.<\/p>\n

FASHION AND YOUTH<\/strong><\/p>\n

On Thursday, 23 May at 18:00, we will be holding an event called FASHION AND YOUTH at the Maribor Castle Loggia. The presentation of products by design students will reveal fresh and innovative fashion creations, supported by fashion illustrations and sketches, reflecting the creativity and talent of future designers. We will be working with five Slovenian institutions that educate young people in design and textiles.<\/p>\n

At 18.00: presentation of products by students of the Maribor Secondary School of Design and presentation of products by students of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering Maribor, the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Engineering Ljubljana and the Faculty of Design - an independent higher education institution.<\/p>\n

FASHION SHOW<\/strong><\/p>\n

On Thursday, 30 May at 8 pm at the Maribor Castle Loggia, we are closing the Fashion Month at the Museum project with a FASHION SHOW by established Slovenian fashion designers who will present their sustainable collections, including fashion illustrations\/sketches, as the initial stage of the garment design process - from idea to execution and presentation.<\/p>\n

16 Slovenian fashion designers will present their creations with their own brands: Sanja Veli\u010dkovi\u010d, Barbara Vrban\u010di\u010d, Tanja Uvera, Julia Kaja Hrovat, David Bacali, Barbara Franji\u010d, Katja Toplak, Anja Medle, Sofia Nogard, Sanija Reja Aske, Ose Rose, With Joy, Natalija Lesjak, Renata Bedene, Katja Kuhar and Ur\u0161ka Drofenik.<\/p>\n
