The open storage of sculpture showcases selected works from the collection, which comprises more than 700 objects dating from the 14th to the 20th century. Most of the works originate from the churches and monasteries of Styria, as sacred sculptures make up the bulk of the collection. In the open sculpture depot, they are arranged chronologically.

The oldest works date from the Gothic period (Mary and Jesus from Zdol near Kozje, from around 1380, the Beautiful Madonna from St Mary's Church on Ptujska Gora, from around 1420-1430, St Catherine from St Bolfenko's Church on Pohorje and St John the Baptist from Maribor Cathedral, both from around 1430, St Daniel from the branch church of St Daniel on Pohorje, from the middle of the 15th century).From the 17th century. From the first half of the 18th century are reliefs by Leonhard Kern (1585/1588-1662), Homage to the Holy Three Kings and Coronation of the Virgin Mary from the high altar of the parish church in Gornji Grad (1612-1613). The works of the sculptor Janez Gregor Božič from Lazne (c. 1675-1724), Mihael Pogačnik (mentioned between 1709 and 1734) from Slovenske Konjice, the sculptor Krištof Rudolf (d. 1740) from Klagenfurt, and other masters date from the 18th century. The central place is given to works by the Maribor sculptor Jožef Straub (1712-1756) from the parish church of St Joseph at Studenice in Maribor from 1750, and two wooden equestrian figures of St Martin and St George from Kozjak Castle, the work of Jožef's elder brother Filip Jakob (1706-1774). Works by Jožef Holzinger (1735-1797) from the second half of the 18th century are also represented. The showcases display sacred carvings from the 18th and 19th centuries.
