The oldest vine in the world is more than 400 years old. It grows on Maribor's Lent and is the subject of an exhibition in the Old vine house. The Maribor Regional Museum has provided several pieces of glassware from Pohorje glassworks. The culture of wine drinking has always been closely linked to glassware, which is not rare in our region due to the proximity of the glassmaking centre on and at the foot of Pohorje. These glassworks produced footed glasses, goblets and shot glasses made of ordinary forest glass, as well as quality clear and coloured glass decorated with cut, engraved and painted designs. The latter was mainly intended for export, while in our region, more massive beer vessels and bottles of all kinds were used. The exhibition at the Old Vine House features objects from the extensive collection of glass from the Pohorje region held by the Maribor Regional Museum.
