The history of silk and silkworm farming, once profitable industries, and the conditions for their re-establishment will be discussed, complemented by the art and utility aspects of silk products, which are still considered a status symbol. Maja Hren Brvar, senior curator of the collection of clothing culture at the Maribor Regional Museum, will take part in the discussion, which is organised by the Maribor Library.
The other speakers will be Dr Rebecca Lucijana Berčič, Director of the RLB Institute of Silk and Silkworm Breeding, and Marko Balažič, a student of history and art history.
The discussion will be moderated by Mag. Nina Hriberšek Vuk.
