VALENTINA BEVC VARL: VALVASOR PRIZE FOR UNIQUE ACHIEVEMENTS IN 2024
As the only Slovenian museum that holds works by Eduard Lind, we have organised a temporary exhibition to mark the 120th anniversary of the artist's death (1904). Maribor Painter Eduard Lind is the result of several years of research by Dr Bevc Varl, based on archival material and works of art. In preparation, the Maribor Regional Museum restored 24 of Lind's paintings and, in cooperation with the public, acquired paintings from abroad and discovered previously unknown works in private ownership. The exhibition was accompanied by an in-depth scholarly monograph Eduard Lind, painter of the Maribor bourgeoisie (1827-1904)

VALVASOR PRIZE
Last year, Maribor and its partner cities hosted the Maribor 2012 - European Capital of Culture project. The Maribor Regional Museum joined the project with a diverse and extensive museum offer, reflecting the perception and opportunity of international contextualisation and popularisation of museum material, museum activities and theory. In the project entitled EUROPE IN A MUSEUM - A MUSEUM IN EUROPE, it has focused its professional work on the international space and has tested, complemented and built on it. It has offered a wide range of content to different audiences through various forms of accessibility, thus fully contributing to the overall offer of the European Capital of Culture 2012. The main objective of the project is its sustainability, the networking of institutions and professionals, the synergies of European know-how and the establishment of contacts and fruitful links with renowned European museums. The project enables the creation of an international museum offer that takes into account the needs of different target groups. This is one of the reasons why the Maribor Regional Museum received the highest national professional award - the Valvasor Award 2012 for the project EUROPE IN A MUSEUM - A MUSEUM IN EUROPE.
